What with the current state of our environment, our skin is faced with daily ravages of sun, pollution, chemicals - the products we use, the food we eat, the air we breathe, even the water we drink is laden with chemicals foreign to our system.
Result is sluggish blood circulation and bad lymphatic drainage leading to dull skin and fatigued body. You know it’s time to detoxify when you see a sallow face staring back at you from the mirror.
Detox rule # 1 Cleanse inside out
Since maximum toxins enter our body through what we eat, it is a good idea to follow a cleansing diet once in a while. In fact basic detox always starts with a diet change. Even if you do not want to go for rigorous detoxification regime; try a juice fast once a week. It is a good way to start flushing out toxins from your body. Try cleansing juices of fruits and vegetables like grapes, orange, strawberry, watermelon, lemon, grapefruit, cabbage, carrot, celery, spinach, tomato, bitter gourd and cucumber. Go for freshly squeezed juice either vegetable or fruit or blend of both. This cleanses you inside out and helps in reducing toxins from your body. Avoid salt and sugar on this day.
Detox rule # 2 Load up on antioxidants
We know well that antioxidants help our body fight the harmful effects of toxins. Antioxidants are involved with helping cells to neutralize free radicals that can cause mutations and cellular damage. As these free radicals get neutralized, the naturally occurring antioxidants in our bodies get depleted. This means that we need to stock up the regular supply of antioxidants through diet and proper skin care potions. Antioxidants, like vitamins A, E, and especially C, are very essential for cleaning out toxins from our body. Vitamin A helps in retaining moisture in your skin. Vitamin E helps in improving skin’s texture and blood circulation to the skin. Vitamin C helps in collagen formation and wound healing.
Detox rule # 3 Give your skin a break
When going through detoxification, it is good idea to give your usual beauty products a break. Avoid chemical infused products. Turn to nature instead, and use ingredients from your kitchen to do some home spa therapy. Try milk bath, fresh fruit pack, rice powder scrub, essential oils to soothe and moisturise.
Detox rule # 4 Revive with a healing facial
Seek out professional help for rejuvenating facial like Oxygen Facial or Fruit-based Facial that fight the damaging effects of pollutions and other toxins to infuse your skin with hydration and bring back the natural glow.
